Winter Time: Ways to Get Enough Quality Sleep

In this modern day world we seem to be getting less and less sleep and the fast paced lifestyle is to blame. Also, since technology has become our constant companion, more specifically devices like smartphones and tablets, too much screen time before bedtime tends to be the main culprit that steals our z's away.

If this sounds like you, it's important to realise how essential sleep is to your health and well-being. When you don't get enough sleep you can't think straight, your attention span lessens, you can't do quality work, simply said you're not productive and if this wasn't enough you increase the risks of having cardiovascular, hormonal or weight issues sooner or later too.

Apart from never inviting the devices in your bedroom again, there are other steps to take to get the much-needed sleep this winter, starting from getting the adequate winter sleep wear. While we sleep better when it's cooler in the room, it doesn't mean being cold is of any help which is why comfy and thermoregulating nighties or pyjamas, preferably natural like 100% cotton made, should be part of your wardrobe.

Most of us don't pay sleepwear the attention it needs and end up with synthetics more often than not. They can be a problem because they consist of chemicals and they don't provide the comfort and thermoregulation cotton does for example, so spending the nights tossing and turning wouldn't be a surprise, be it because of sweating or feeling cold.

Oh, and the cosy winter sleep wear is stylish as well so you won't have to worry about looking good in your sleep! Moving on to other aspects, since it's colder in the winter days it's logical you're going to use air heating to warm up which can be a mistake not only considering the fact you sleep better when the room is cooler but also due to the way air heating causes nasal congestion leading to irregular breathing patterns and snoring.

If you simply must warm up at least use the heating before bedtime and by all means make a humidifier your nightime friend. Likewise, staying hydrated throughout the day can be of help in preventing congestion so don't forget to have your needed daily water intake!

When it comes to meals remember to eat light meals no matter how big of a fan of warm heavy meals you may be, especially throughout winter; forget the meat and wine combination and opt for a nice soup, a banana or a glass of warm milk instead.
