The Tools Every Auto Repair Shop Should Have

To repair a precision made machine a mechanic needs the knowledge, parts and equipment to actually take on the task. It's specifically difficult when it comes to vehicle since there are so many and most of the different manufacturers have different ways of constructing the vehicles. There is also the ever present problem of restoring old vehicles that require you to do extensive research about every specific part that you can get your hands on. With the advent of the internet this process has become a tad simpler, but you'll still need the manufacturer's manual for every vehicle you need to repair. Then you'll need the parts which is simple enough since there are many auto part shops that have a variety of different up to date parts.

Then you have the tools that are required to actually repair and restore the vehicle's parts, guts and exterior. You'll need to make sure your shop is well equipped to take on the variety of vehicles you'll be repairing. Tools such as your spanner wrench set will be used for almost every repair since bolts and screws are the most common way vehicles are held together. The act of disassembling the vehicle's engine and parts can't be accomplished without the use of a spanner wrench set because of its versatility. However, another key factor every mechanic needs to remember is to mark every part when disassembling any component especially when disassembling the engine since there are too many components to keep track of.

You should then consider the other tools and equipment you will need. The first of which should be pliers and cutters which will help with electrical equipment and dashboard repair. Screwdrives, mallets, zipties and duct tape which will help you make quick and simple repairs. Then you'll need to decide the powered equipment you'll be using to lift the vehicle, unscrew the bolts on the wheels and change the oil which is what you'll mostly be doing. There is a need for all kinds of electrical and hoisting equipment for the repair of every vehicle you'll be repairing. Hoisting equipment specifically will be needed when you'll be using to lift the engine out of the compartment, either for disassembly or for adding new components.

Lastly you should never stop considering the equipment you'll require for all of the different repairs and upgrades commisioned in your shop. Some tools and equipment that aren't essential but would be useful are the ones that make certain tasks easier such as the high torque impact wrench and stronger, larger lifts.
