When the weather gets cold and the need for warm wine is on the rise (chuckles), one of the most sought-after and tasty types of meat are sausages. And instead of buying ready-made, meta lovers can make their very own sausages at home with the help of one unit – a sausage stuffer. According to manufacturers, these sausage stuffers are ideal for doing both smaller and larger batches of sausage. All you need to do is to grind the meat, season it and you are ready to stuff it into the sausage casing. What you need to know about sausage stuffers is that there are three types of them available on the market.
Horn Sausage Stuffer
The horn sausage stuffers are usually made from cast iron plated with chrome or thin, however, these days you can find a stainless steel model as well. Generally speaking, horn stuffers are available in manual models and are designed for people who are new to sausage stuffing. Usually, the horn types of stuffers are used for doing smaller batches as their capacity can range from 1 to 2.5 kg of sausage.
Vertical Sausage Stuffer
According to lots of studies, the vertical types of sausage stuffers are considered the most popular ones among users. This is because they are designed for both beginners and professionals and can make larger capacities of sausages. Another great benefit about choosing a vertical sausage stuffer is that they are available in both manual and electric model out of which the electric ones are usually used for commercial use. This type of sausage stuffer has a larger piston-like cylinder to hold the seasoned ground meat, with a stuffing cylinder mounted vertically. Generally speaking, these types of stuffers are made with capacities that range between 2.5 and 7 kg.
Horizontal Sausage Stuffer
Last but not least, horizontal sausage stuffers are other types of sausage stuffers. Just like the vertical ones, they are also available in manual and electric form out of which the motorised is a better choice. They also have a large piston-like cylinder that is designed to hold the seasoned ground meat which is mounted horizontally. The sausage capacity of this units ranges from 2.5 to 9 kg, but the main disadvantage of the manual version is that the unit must be put near the counter/table edge so that the hand crank hangs over the side in order to be used the right way.
