The book Soul Surfer tells the story about the event that had happened on the Halloween morning in 2003. It was the morning when Bethany has lost her arm. In the calm morning, when she was laying on the board with her hand dangling in the water, she was attacked by a shark. At first she doesn't feel nothing but after a while she sees that the water around her is all red. It was then when she realizes that her arm is gone. But, as a girl with strong faith in God, she remained still, and continued paddling to the beach with one hand. As she was paddling to the shore, only one thought was occupying her mind: “Get to the beach!”. With the help of God and the last atoms of her strength, Bethany made it to the beach.
It was that tragic event that has changed the life of the surfer girl, who dreamed about becoming a professional surfer. It was that morning when it seems that the dreams of the thirteen-year-old girl have vanished forever. The girl with passion for surfing, supported from here lovely family, wonderful friends and great sponsor, was now laying in the hospital room, with one hand missing and one big question in mind: “When will I be able to surf again?”.
What makes a Soul Surfer an inspirational book is a determination and the Bethany's spirit and determination to continue her life in the direction she was focused before. Not even the fact that she has lost her arm stopped her from her determination to succeed as a surfer. She returned to her passion shortly after her rehabilitation. As she says: “Life is a lot like surfing… When you get caught in the impact zone, you’ve got to just get back up. Because you never know what may be over the next wave.”, no matter what obstacles may interfere on your way you should never give up on your dreams. Also, no matter what has happened to you, you should never lose your faith in God. With strong faith in God you can get back on your way and achieve your dreams.
