In the past, safety hard hats weren't very hard and were constructed from steamed canvas, glue and black paint. Safety hard hats must feature a strong outer shell and a shock-absorbing lining that includes a headband and straps that suspend the shell from 2.5 to 3.20 cm away from the head. This type of hard hat design provide ventilation during normal wear and shock absorption during an impact. And unless you have the manufacturers written approval, never wear your hard hat backwards.
